Our Big Boy!!

Jayden had his 8 week well visit.  Here are his stats:

10lbs 14 oz (30% percentile)
22 inches (15% percentile)

Jayden gained 5 pounds and grew 4 inches in 6.5 weeks!!  Honestly, I was a bit shocked at how much he had grown.  This would explain why he is busting out of all of his clothes and why an emergency shopping trip was required this past weekend (or his birthday suit would be the only thing that fit ;).  The 30th percentile may not sound like much but he wasn't even on the chart 7 weeks ago.  And Riley still hasn't made it to 30%.   So we are very proud of our growing boy!

Our Boy is here!!

Jayden Tyler Stein
January 14, 2011 @ 12:16am
5lbs, 4.8 oz
18 inches

Jayden officially joined our family on January 14th by emergency c-section.  My blood pressure went very quickly out of control (not a surprise for those who know my history) so they decided to deliver me right away.  I was 36.5 weeks along.  That may seem early to some but for us it was huge to make it that far.  I was actually 3 days away from being considered full term!

Jayden and I were able to come home together which meant so much to us.  We are all doing great!  Jayden is growing bigger everyday and Riley is a great big sister.  She loves to hug and kiss her baby brother and loves to help with anything she can get her hands on.  Here are some pics from those first few days:

The B's of my life!

We will start with the obvious: Blogging!  So I haven't blogged in almost a year. What really can happen in a year?  All I can say is that now that I am a SAHM (see future B) I will make every effort to blog on a regular basis.  Be prepared to see all kinds of random pictures of Riley from over the last year or so.

Next has to be our Baby Boy!  That's right, we are having a baby boy!  I'm about 35 weeks along and due February 6th.  Those of you who know Riley's story know that making it this far is a great achievement for us.  I did have a scare about 7 weeks ago when my blood pressure spiked but it has been under control since.  Now it looks like we might actually make it the distance (knock on wood).  We are very excited to welcome our newest addition to our family!

Boston is my last B.   About 5 weeks ago we moved to Boston.  Adam was offered a position he couldn't pass up so we upped and moved and started the next chapter in our lives.  I have always loved Boston.  Adam and I visited several times when we lived in Connecticut and I was excited to come back to the East Coast.  However, it was never our plan to move further from family :(  But we have to play the cards we are dealt and this was the best move for our family.  This has, however, given  me the opportunity to be a stay at home mom which I am very excited about.  So, if anybody wants to visit Boston let us know, we love to have visitors and Boston is a great place to visit!

So stayed tuned and be ready for all kinds of blogging!!

She listens well!

Like most parents we try to teach Riley right from wrong. That doesn't seem to be going so well. Usually when we tell her "no, don't do that" she usually does it even more while laughing at us. We're hoping it's her age, if it's not we are in a world of hurt! Here is an example:

Riley, please don't climb on the stairs...

Riley, don't climb on the stairs...

Riley, don't climb on the stairs, don't go any further!!!

RILEY - DON'T CLIMB ON THE STAIRS!!!!!!

After pulling her off of the stairs screaming and crying followed.

Yes, Adam and I are in trouble. Wish us luck!!

I know, I know!

Okay, so I'm a horrible blogger. All I can say is that I always have good intentions.

Well, Riley is almost 16 months old and getting bigger every day and is the smartest little girl ever (I'm not biased at all;) Here are a few pictures from the last couple of months.

My Beautiful niece Kendall!!

We attempted a "photo shoot' for holiday cards. Since none of you got holiday cards from us you know how it went.

I know, lets use a prop! Great idea!

Christmas Day!

Walking and destruction - two of Riley's favorite things!

Playing in her ball pit farm!

MUAHHH!!

Thanks for checking out our blog! I hereby solemnly swear to try to post more often!

Never a dull moment!

When I say Riley keeps us on our toes I am not exaggerating. A couple of weeks ago Riley came down with some kind of viral infection. We went to the doctor and of course he told us there wasn't much we could do. She eventually started feeling better and things seemed good for a couple of days. Then she started coughing and not feeling great. We had already planned to take her to the doctor this past Friday to get her number 2 flu shot so we decided to get her checked out again. Now they said she had a double hear infection and the cough was due to nasal drip. The Dr. said after a couple days of antibiotics she will be feeling much better. The next morning, Halloween, went well. You can check out my previous post, she looks great. After playing in her costume she took a good nap. After waking from her nap she was no longer happy and was wheezing a little. That evening and night was rough as she wasn't feeling good and continued to wheeze and cough. This only worsened on Sunday. We decided to take her to the ER. Being first time parents we realized we could be overreacting but thought we would be better safe then sorry. When we got to the ER they took us in right away as they were concerned about her breathing. After hooking her up to the monitor we realized her oxygen level was at 88 (should be above 95). Suddenly there were a handful of people in the room. They immediately put her on oxygen and gave her an hour long breathing treatment. After the breathing treatment Riley had a chest x-ray done which revealed she had pneumonia on both sides of her lungs. Needless to say they started antibiotics right away and admitted her. She was admitted on Sunday and we were finally able to come home today (Thursday). Except for two hours on Tuesday when I went home to shower (at the request of hospital staff - no just kidding) I never left her side. Needless to say it has been an extremely long week for all of us. One of the lessons learned: go with your gut. If you think your kid is sick (even when you took them to the Dr. twice in the last week and a half) do something about it.

But Riley is feeling so much better and we are so happy to be home. Trying to keep a 13 month old down (with a cannula, an IV and hooked to a monitor) is almost impossible but she did great. I am so proud of her. Don't get me wrong she had rough moments but overall she handled everything great. I am definitely looking forward to sleeping in my own bed. Which makes me ask why I am still on the computer. So I am going to bed. Here is a pic of Riley once she started feeling better.

Riley 1st Halloween (kind of)

We are counting this Halloween as Riley's 1st Halloween. Technically she was home last year but she had only been home for a couple of days and weighed a whole 4.5lbs so really this was her 1st.

Riley was a cat and was the cutest cat ever! Although I might be biased :) She loved being dressed up and loved watching all the kids trick or treating.

Yes, that's a mouse in her mouth! The costume came with a toy mouse.

Creama decides he wants the mouse! Can't blame him, all his toys look like mice.
